Designated Safeguarding Lead Two Day Induction Group 4/5 (previously Level 3)

Who should attend this course?

This two day induction programme is for senior leaders and managers who hold a designated or lead safeguarding responsibility in educational institutions and for the providers of services for children, young people and adults at risk who have no previous Group 4/5 (previously Level 3) training but who have undertaken basic Levels 1 and 2 training.

Where is the course held?

This course can be delivered by one of our experienced trainers at your place of work or setting. 

You may also attend the course at our Training Centre in Bromley where you will receive refreshments and a sandwich lunch each day.

What is the course content?

This course will be tailor-made to meet the needs and roles of the attendees but the training will be in line with current statutory guidance, DfE advice and acknowledged best practice and will always include:

  • Key partnerships as well as roles and responsibilities in safeguarding
  • The statutory framework for safeguarding
  • Information sharing protocols
  • The framework for the assessment of children in need
  • The role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Thresholds and referral processes
  • The "Prevent" duty
  • Recording
  • Race and culture in safeguarding
  • Safe professional practice
  • Responding to allegations against staff/volunteers
  • Inspection judgements and best practice in safeguarding
  • Online safety
  • Responding to allegations against staff
  • Safeguarding over 16s

Drawing on the experience of delegates, the programme will be delivered through a combination of short presentations, group exercises, case studies and discussions.

What is the duration of this course?

This course takes place over two days from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Is this course certificated and what is its validity?

Certificates of attendance will be issued to attendees at the end of the two day course and it is expected that training is renewed every two years.
