Online Designated Safeguarding Lead Refresher Group 4/5 (previously Level 3)

Who should attend this course?

This certified 4 hour online refresher programme is for experienced Designated Safeguarding Leads (and their deputies) in education settings who need to update their knowledge in line with current statutory guidance, DfE advice and acknowledged best practice and the Ofsted and ISI inspection frameworks.

The programme is aligned to the training competencies of the London Safeguarding Children Partnership for designated lead professionals in schools, colleges and early years settings - Group 4/5 (previously Level 3).

What is the course content?

Drawing upon the experience and expertise of the group, topics covered will include:

  • Current DfE Guidance/Advice including 'Keeping Children Safe in Education’
  • Strategic partnership arrangements
  • The role of the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  • Contextual safeguarding
  • Trauma-informed practice
  • Grooming and online safety
  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Peer-on-peer abuse
  • Key messages from research
  • Safe professional practice
  • The inspection framework ‘signs of success’
  • Support for safeguarding teams

Whilst the course has been designed to meet the needs of established members of safeguarding teams, adequate time will be set aside for questions and discussion. Group sizes will be limited to a maximum of 12 delegates in order to draw upon the expertise and practical experience of the group.

Is this course certificated and what is its validity?

Certificates of attendance will be posted to attendees after the course has taken place and it is recommended that training be renewed every two years.
